Forex Technical Analysis Course
Reading price: charts, structure, levels, indicators and the patterns that repeat because people repeat.
Technical analysis is the study of what price has already done, on the argument that participants behave in recurring ways at recurring places. These courses take that seriously without overclaiming: charts, candlesticks, market structure, support and resistance, and the small number of indicators that measure something genuinely distinct.
The order matters. Chart reading comes before indicators, because an indicator is arithmetic performed on price and makes far more sense once you can read the price itself. Every lesson ends one click from the FX Terminal charts, so you can test what you have just read on live data rather than on a screenshot.
Courses in Technical Analysis
- Reading Candlestick ChartsThe candlestick is the densest way ever devised to show a period of trading: four prices and a balance of power in one glyph. This course teaches you to read one at a glance, and to recognise the handful of formations that genuinely carry information.
- Indicators That Earn Their PlaceThere are thousands of indicators and perhaps six ideas among them. This course covers the four that measure genuinely different things — trend, momentum, momentum shift and volatility — and is equally clear about what each one gets wrong.
- Breakouts, Pullbacks and TrapsAlmost every price-action setup is a variation on three situations: price leaves a level, price returns to a level within a trend, or price pretends to leave and does not. This course teaches you to distinguish them while the candle is still forming.
Lessons in Technical Analysis
- The Anatomy of a CandlestickBy the end of this lesson you will be able to look at any single candle and describe what happened during that period — where price opened, how far it stretched in each direction,…
- Choosing a TimeframeTwo traders can look at the same pair, at the same moment, and reach opposite conclusions — simply because one is on the 5-minute chart and the other on the daily. This lesson…
- Trend, Range and Market StructureAlmost every losing streak a developing trader has can be traced to one error: running a trend strategy in a range, or a range strategy in a trend. This lesson teaches you to tell…
- Support and Resistance That Actually MatterAnyone can draw a hundred lines on a chart. This lesson is about drawing four, and knowing why each one is there.
- Moving AveragesA moving average is the average closing price over the last N periods, redrawn every bar. That is the whole idea — and understanding exactly what that does, and does not, tell you…
- RSI and MomentumThe RSI is probably the most misused indicator in retail trading, because its two most famous levels are almost universally misinterpreted. This lesson fixes that.
- ATR and Measuring VolatilityMost indicators try to tell you which way price will go. ATR does something more useful and far more reliable: it tells you how far price typically moves, which is what actually…
- Breakouts and RetestsA breakout is the most intuitive trade in the market and one of the least profitable when traded naively. This lesson explains the difference between a break that means something…
- Pullbacks and ContinuationBuying a pullback is the most reliable way to trade a trend. It is also indistinguishable, in the moment, from buying into a reversal. This lesson gives you the tells that…
About these technical analysis lessons
This page collects everything in the FX Terminal Academy that deals with technical analysis: 3 courses and 9 lessons. The list is generated from the lessons themselves rather than maintained by hand, so it stays complete as the Academy grows.
Every lesson is free to read in full. Each one ends with a short quiz and links into the FX Terminal screen that applies it, so an idea can be checked against live market data instead of staying on the page. No account is needed to read; signing in only saves your progress and issues the completion certificate.
Where to start
Work through a course from the top rather than picking lessons out of it: the order is the point, and each lesson assumes the one before it. The lesson list below is there for when you already know the idea you are after.
Nothing here is investment advice. The Academy explains how the market works and how to read the data behind it; it does not issue signals or tell you what to trade.
Common questions
Are these technical analysis lessons free?
- Yes, all of them, in full. There is no paywall, no trial and no card required, and the live terminal screens the lessons link to are free as well.
Do I need an account to read them?
- No. An account is free and optional — it exists only to remember which lessons you have finished, carry that across devices, and issue a certificate when you complete a course.
Is a course better than reading the lessons individually?
- For a subject you are new to, yes: a course orders its lessons so each one builds on the last. Read a single lesson when you already know which idea you want.
